Transition Information Program

MVCC conducts the Transition Information Program (TIP) as a support service to pre-separation military members of Joint Base San Antonio, and their spouses. This half-day program is designed to orient transitioning members to the realities of the local job market and prepare them for a successful shift to civilian employment.

Attendees meet with representatives from the Texas Veterans Commission, Veterans Services Programs, Workforce Solutions Alamo and more, and get to participate in fast-paced, candid and straight talk about transitioning, including:

  • One-on-one networking opportunities & panel discussions
  • Navigating the civilian health care market & paying for it
  • Learn about the local job market & current demands
  • How employers view veteran job seekers
  • Review ways to improve job search skills for a career transition
  • Learn how to access the myriad of other benefits for veterans like Onward to Opportunity, Career Skills Program, Veterans Education Program and more

The most recent session was held September 12, 2016 and hosted 54 attendees from all ranks and services, including spouses who provided enthusiastice reviews of the material and information presented.

The next session is scheduled for 8:00 am – 12:30 pm on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Fort Sam Houston Community Center, Building 1395, Chaffee Road, JBSA Fort Sam Houston. Open to all JBSA DoD ID cardholders. To register, call 221-1213.
