We have a deep understanding of what it takes to assist veterans.

Our Vision: To be the strategic lead for veteran services in Military City, USA

MVCC Background

Evaluation reports and best practice reviews from around the country reflect widespread recognition that improving services to meet the complex needs of military members, veterans and their families requires a holistic, community-based approach. Like many major metropolitan cities, San Antonio has a large number of organizations either dedicated exclusively to serving this population or postured generally to serve the veteran community alongside their non-veteran client base. However, as in most areas, San Antonio seeks to improve the cohesion of service delivery across these organizations to both increase impact and simplify access to services.

Acknowledging that a coordinated effort was needed in order to meet this goal, MVCC began in June 2013 as an informal partnership of the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG), San Antonio Area Foundation (Area Foundation), San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, San Antonio Coalition for Veterans and Families (SACVF), and ex officio members of Joint Base San Antonio representing military and federal support personnel. Hundreds of individuals from over 125 organizations and businesses representing all major community stakeholders have been involved in this effort. In June 2015 this effort was formalized with the incorporation of MVCC as a registered Texas corporation and a 501(c)3 IRS-approved nonprofit organization. In early 2016 the first Executive Director was hired, and through support from the San Antonio Area Foundation and Saint Philip's College, offices were opened in April of that year.
